Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix shares rallied sharply on Wednesday following a report that Singapore sovereign wealth fund Temasek is considering investments in South Korea’s two leading memory chipmakers. Samsung Electronics shares jumped more than 7%, while SK Hynix gained nearly 7% during Korean trading. Investor sentiment was boosted by a report from South Korean outlet Asia Business Daily, which said Temasek had contacted the Korean government regarding the timing of a potential investment. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have emerged as major beneficiaries of the AI boom in 2026. Despite increased stock market volatility over the past two months and signs of cooling enthusiasm toward some AI-related investments, Samsung and SK Hynix shares have each gained more than 100% in 2026.
