Experiencing a flood two times in about a month is two times too many for Jeff Gilligan, who operates a custom woodworking shop along a normally placid creek. “I had 12 inches of water inside (the shop) and 2½ feet outside,” Gilligan said Tuesday of the flash flood that hit the Youngwood area late Friday afternoon. “This is a little town and it (flooding) seems to be a problem for the whole town,” said Lori Gilligan, Jeff’s wife. Palmquist said this summer seems to have had more flooding in the region from heavy storms than usual. The flooding forced multiple road closures, particularly Mae West Road off Route 40, west of the Youghiogheny River Lake.
