Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), in coordination with the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), has carried out a major demolition drive, demolishing a total of 330 transit houses with 45 toilets and bathrooms near Kanyashram under Chandrasekharpur Mouza as part of its ongoing efforts to clear government land of unauthorised occupation and facilitate planned urban development. The operation was carried out under the direction of BDA Vice-Chairman Chanchal Rana and supervised by Joint Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Jena. BDA Additional Commissioner (Estate-I) Manoj Swain, BMC Joint Commissioner (Housing) Ajaya Kumar Mohanty, along with senior officials from both BDA and BMC, were present during the enforcement operation. Elaborate security arrangements were made to ensure the smooth conduct of the demolition drive and maintain law and order. As many as eight JCB machines were pressed into service to carry out the demolition drive.
