White, Kelm advance in Cook County commissioner race

COOK COUNTY — Two of the three candidates running for the District 1 county commissioner seat advanced to the November general election as voting concluded Tuesday.
A Cook County resident of 43 years, she currently resides in Hovland.
Kelm, 40, also of Hovland, has been a county resident for two years.
If elected, Kelm said he will focus on housing affordability, economic opportunity, healthcare and the environment.
Cook County commissioners for District 1 are elected to a four-year term of office, and the annual salary is estimated at a base of $32,891, with a $100 per meeting per diem, according to Cook County Auditor-Treasurer Braidy Powers.
