A former Sydney airport worker fed "lifesaving" information to a criminal syndicate that hid nearly 160kg of drugs in fabric rolls in an attempt to smuggle it in from India.
The devices appeared to be normal phones but had an encrypted messaging app hidden behind a calculator app.
Days later, "the big white saint" sent Grunnet a photo of another pallet with multiple boxes, texting: "Yes brother new one.
Picture: NewsWire / David SwiftThe syndicate was prepared to pay Grunnet $50,000 for his "lifesaving" information, the court was told, however there is no evidence he was ever paid.
Grunnet was sentenced to two years and four months imprisonment, which was backdated to April this year.
