Dr. Franco Enobrenaco, a scientist with the Groundwater and Geoscience Division of CSIR-WRI, said about 60% of Ghana’s water bodies are currently polluted.

Dr. Enobrenaco stressed that efforts to clean polluted water would have limited impact if pollution continues at the source.
The scientist noted that polluted water poses risks to public health, agriculture and industry.
He further pointed to the high cost of treating polluted water and warned that industries and energy production could also be affected.
