State representative Cedrick Frazier rode a wave of progressive momentum to win the nonpartisan primary for Hennepin County Attorney on Tuesday night. Longtime Hennepin County prosecutor Diane Krenz came in third place with 46,150 votes. Former acting U.S. Attorney for Minnesota Anders Folk will face Cedrick Frazier in the race to replace Mary Moriarty. Krenz retired from the Hennepin County Attorney's Office during Moriarty's tenure and ran staunchly against her policies and the direction she took the office. Historic voter turnout state-wide for the primary was also reflected in the Hennepin County Attorney race.
