“He goes by Nathaniel, by the way,” Michigan football coach Kyle Whittingham said Monday. “Nathaniel Staehling is instinctive, he reminds me of some of the backers you’ve seen in the NFL,” Whittingham said. Whittingham’s words are calming ones for a program that lost its four leaders in production at the linebacker position this offseason to graduation, the NFL and the transfer portal. As an inside linebacker, a guy like Staehling is responsible for stopping every play in the air and on the ground. A little over a week into camp, Staehling is staking his claim.
