Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud said on Tuesday the recently signed Makkah agreement between Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan was a “long-term” defence partnership that would boost cooperation.
Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan signed the defence agreement on Friday at a trilateral summit in Makkah, pledging to strengthen collective security, deepen defence cooperation and promote peace and stability in the region and beyond.
The framework also envisages expanded defence cooperation, including closer military coordination, intelligence sharing, strategic consultations, defence planning and broader institutional cooperation between the three countries.
Saudi Arabia brings economic strength, regional influence and political leadership, while Türkiye contributes an advanced defence industry, military technology and industrial capacity.
Security analysts say the credibility of the framework ultimately depends on continued political coordination among the three governments.
