Fuel shortage looms as dealers issue 72-hour ultimatum
['Sajid Salamat']

Addressing a press conference, PPDA Chairman Malik Khuda Bakhsh said the government has failed to make progress on the dealers’ demands despite the passage of 15 days, causing growing frustration among around 14,000 petroleum dealers across Pakistan.
PPDA Vice Chairman Anwar Kamal said frequent changes in petroleum product prices, particularly the daily pricing mechanism, has caused financial losses for petrol station operators.
Petroleum dealers have called for a review of the daily petroleum pricing mechanism, saying frequent price revisions create financial uncertainty and negatively affect their operations.
They have urged the government to address their longstanding demands through immediate negotiations to avert a nationwide disruption in fuel supplies.
The government has yet to announce a formal response to the dealers’ 72-hour ultimatum.
