Pan Masala Packaging Must Be Plastic-FreeUnder the revised Food Safety and Standards (Packaging) Regulations, 2018, pan masala has been added as a separate category under Schedule 4, which lists approved packaging materials for specific food products.
According to the new guidelines, manufacturers can use paper, paperboard, cellulose and other naturally derived materials for packaging pan masala.
Aluminium Foil and Metallised Layers RestrictedThe regulatory authority has also banned the use of aluminium foil and metallised coatings in pan masala packaging.
