ST. PAUL — It appears likely that Ron Schutz and incumbent Keith Ellison will face off in November for Minnesota attorney general. Ellison has been Minnesota’s attorney general since 2019. The attorney general is the state’s chief legal officer, defending challenges against the state and may sometimes get involved with larger nationwide lawsuits to reinforce the state’s interests. The attorney general also serves on the State Executive Council. The attorney general, who is elected every four years, makes an annual salary of $190,000, as of July 1.
