On Monday, Aug. 11, President Donald Trump signed an executive order titled “Delivering Gold Standard Childhood Vaccine Recommendations for Americans.” The order directed the Department of Health and Human Services to accelerate vaccine research in the United States. This executive order differs from a previous presidential memorandum issued on Dec. 5, 2025, which initiated vaccine research, and from an executive order issued on May 29, 2026, that reaffirmed the administration’s policy to “support maximal parental choice over childhood vaccines.” In contrast, this executive order publicizes initial findings to the American public and recommends 11 core vaccines, including the MMR vaccine. Despite outside criticism, administration officials maintain this executive order is not centered on anti-vaccine propaganda, but rather on allowing American parents the freedom and space to choose what is right for their children.
