NZICC has become the first New Zealand convention centre to appoint a dedicated Māori cultural advisor. New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) has appointed a Pou Tikanga (cultural advisor) to foster Māori values and ensure visitors enjoy an authentic experience. Te Raukura descends from Ngāti Whātua, Ngapuhi and Tainui. Te Raukura ensures Māori values are present at every NZICC event, shaping protocols, ceremonies and guest experiences. “This role is about more than cultural integration; it’s about embedding te ao Māori into the fabric of how NZICC operates each day,” says Te Raukura.
