Minnesota voters have chosen one of their nominees for governor in the state’s first open race for the office since 2018. On the Democratic-Farmer-Labor side, U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar won the primary Tuesday, defeating a field that included Kobey Layne, Mohammad Wazwaz, Thomas Evenstad, Po Vang, Bill E. Gates Jr. and Ole “Viking” Savior. Tim Walz choosing not to run for reelection, Klobuchar, who has served Minnesota in the U.S. Senate since 2007, lead the pack of DFL candidates after Tuesdays Primary Election. Klobuchar was endorsed at the DFL Convention in May and announced former Fergus Falls Mayor Ben Schierer as her running mate. The governor’s race is expected to draw national attention as voters decide which party will lead Minnesota after eight years under Walz’s administration.
