First, to be clear, there are positive things to be said about higher education. This reviewer will not argue with the authors of Higher Education in America: It’s Worse Than You Think. Indeed, I suspect many academics themselves would concede that higher education has gone adrift, even if they might disagree with the book about the causes and fundamental nature of the problem.
