News from WCCThe City to Sea Bridge and surrounding area will be closing from late August till April for repairs and renewal. We’re also earthquake strengthening the building under the bridge so it’s safe for future use. Essential repairs will make the bridge’s structure watertight and replace materials that have reached the end of their lifespan. This includes restoring the sculptures by Paratene Matchitt (Ngāti Porou, Te Whānau-ā-Apanui, Te Whakatōhea) and artworks by Rewi Thompson (Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Raukawa), including the pyramid. We’re also revitalising the landscaping in some of the areas around the bridge to integrate them with the rest of Te Ngākau Civic Square’s new design.
