The company behind Emperor’s Garden, the Sydney Chinatown restaurant known for its $0.70 cream puffs, owes The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) $845,133.11 according to court documents found by ABC investigative reporter Emily Baker.
Its assets include the Emperor’s Garden building, which is co-owned by Stanley and May Ho Yee and the company Hynsco.
The ATO has applied to wind up Emperor’s Garden Pty Ltd, arguing the company may be insolvent.
Emperor’s Garden has continued to post on Instagram, with one post from a week ago overlaid with text saying ‘Thank you Sydney’.
