World Breastfeeding Week 2026FROM 1-7 August, the world observes World Breastfeeding Week, a global campaign led by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA), with support from WHO and UNICEF. Rather than searching for new solutions, Pakistan must strengthen practices already known to save lives, reduce malnutrition and support healthy development. Early skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding provide newborns with colostrum, the nutrient- and antibody-rich first milk that offers protection against infection. World Breastfeeding Week should inspire action beyond awareness campaigns. Investing in breastfeeding means investing in healthier children, stronger families, lower healthcare costs and a healthier, more productive Pakistan.
