Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif approved the initiative as part of what is being described as the largest drinking water programme in Punjab’s history. The initiative comes after the success of the Suthra Punjab project, which has extended sanitation and cleanliness services to communities across the province. The same spirit of expanding essential public services should now guide the clean drinking water programme. Clean drinking water is not a privilege; it is a basic necessity and a fundamental requirement for a healthy and dignified life. Providing clean water is meaningful only when an adequate and sustainable supply is available.
