Southern sector referees undergo fitness test ahead of new season
['Stephen Awuah']
The Ghana Report
Referees from Ghana’s Southern Sector have undergone a rigorous fitness test in Koforidua as the Ghana Football Association (GFA) steps up preparations for the 2026/27 football season.
The fitness test follows a written examination conducted in Koforidua, with referees now required to demonstrate the physical strength and endurance needed to meet the demands of modern football.
Passing the fitness test is one of several conditions referees must meet before they can be considered for appointments in the new season.
The process is expected to help the GFA identify referees who meet the required technical, physical and professional standards for the 2026/27 season.
The GFA is expected to announce the final list of qualified referees after all the required assessments have been completed.
