The Queensland Government’s new digital identity verification system has launched providing a single access point for logging into the state government’s online services. Replacing QGov, Queensland Digital Identity – QDI – is “a modern, robust and innovative system which meets the highest national standards and security protocols for digital identities,” says a government statement. More secure, advanced and flexible than QGov, a key point of difference is that QDI accepts a wider range of documents, including international ID documents such as birth certificates and passports. When logging in for the first time, some personal documents may need to be re-verified via multi-factor authentication. QDI was initially developed to support the launch of the Department of Transport and Main Roads digital license app in 2023.
