The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested a C&W Department employee and a contractor in an alleged corruption case involving misappropriation of public funds and losses of billions of rupees to the national exchequer.
The arrested suspects were produced before the court of Judge Muhammad Hamid Mughal, which granted NAB seven-day physical remand of both accused for further investigation.
During the hearing, NAB Special Prosecutor Habibullah Baig told the court that C&W Department Kohistan employee Ijaz-ul-Haq had been arrested on a NAB warrant.
He allegedly opened accounts in his name at two private banks in Dasu and transferred Rs113.8 million from public funds into his personal accounts.
After hearing the NAB arguments, the court handed over both suspects to NAB on seven-day physical remand.
