Indian intelligence agencies have warned that anti-India elements, allegedly acting at the direction of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), could attempt an attack around Independence Day. According to the intelligence inputs, Pakistan may not only try to carry out a major attack in border areas but could also target locations within India. Following the warning, security agencies across the country have been placed on high alert ahead of August 15. According to the official, security arrangements in these cities are generally less extensive than those in major metropolitan centres, making them potentially more vulnerable. Security agencies are therefore maintaining close surveillance across sensitive areas and have intensified preparations to prevent any possible terror-related incident ahead of August 15.
