The Tigers announced they have selected the contract of right-hander Tanner Rainey. Rainey, 33, signed a minor league deal with the Tigers last summer. He was non-tendered after the campaign and then re-signed on a minor league deal. He will give the Tigers another bullpen arm while De Jesus is away. If Rainey is bumped off the active roster when De Jesus comes back, he’ll have to be removed from the 40-man as well, though the Tigers also have optionable arms in the bullpen and could opt to keep Rainey around.
