The brief walk, which was more of a chip, formed part of the celebrations commemorating World Steelpan Day and honouring the pioneers of the pan fraternity. At the start of the walk, pan players gathered at All Stars and serenaded those in attendance. One pan player, Jada Sutherland, encouraged all youths to get involved in pan. While not a pan player, 14-year-old Kimani Reece, who accompanied his mother, a pan player with the Defence Force, said he just enjoys the culture of pan music. As for Pan Trinbago president Beverly Ramsey-Moore, yesterday’s walk was the largest since its inception in 2013 when the United Nations first recognised World Steelpan Day.
