Beaches on the south end of Okanagan Lake are being blackened by ash and burned woody debris from the Bald Range wildfire. The wildfire has been putting up large plumes of smoke and debris since erupting on Friday evening west of Summerland. That ash and burned wood is now washing up on Penticton beaches, including at Okanagan Lake Beach and the waterfront at Red Wing Resort. Interior Health has been testing the water quality at Okanagan Lake Beach and has not issued any swimming advisories.
