The Liberal City Commission met on Tuesday evening and after hearing a legislative update from Watkins Public Strategies, approved the contract with Watkins to continue utilizing their services. The Commission approved the Federal Funds Exchange reimbursement request invoic for 2026 chip sealing.in the amount of $257,639.59. Commissioners also approved the Western Avenue Mill & Overlay Project in an amount not to exceed $997,000. The project will run from 15th Street to the railroad tracks, Both parties, the City of Liberal and J&R Constructors, agree that work will take place in 2026, with billing to follow in January 2027 when proper budget authority will be available
