A joint security team led by the Bunkpurugu Immigration Command has intercepted 118 bags of cocoa beans hidden under a load of plantains along the Bunkpurugu border road. Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently in police custody assisting with investigations. The operation involved personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Defence Intelligence, the National Security-Signal Bureau and the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). During the search, they discovered 118 bags of cocoa beans carefully hidden underneath the plantains. The intercepted cocoa is estimated to weigh about 11,800 kilogrammes and has been handed over to the Customs Division of the GRA for further action.
