Tourism & Transport Forum chief executive Margy Osmond said the City of Sydney’s newly unveiled designs for a square opposite Sydney Town Hall represented a rare opportunity to create a new landmark for the city. “This is fantastic for Sydney’s visitor economy and a once in a generation opportunity to create a new landmark in the heart of the city. “Town Hall square is essential and exciting new infrastructure that will bring energy and fresh investment to the heart of the city,” she said. JPW director Matthew Morel said the square was designed to support both major events and everyday use. ASPECT Studios global design director Sacha Coles said the tree canopy and water features were designed with visitor comfort and safety in mind.
