He said the introduction of electric vehicles could help the police respond more efficiently to incidents, especially in areas where traffic congestion can delay conventional patrol vehicles.
Kandoje cited high fuel costs, vehicle breakdowns and limited resources for vehicle repairs among the challenges faced by the Police Service.
He said charging an electric vehicle costs about 70 percent less per kilometre than fuel, potentially providing substantial savings for institutions that operate large vehicle fleets.
Kandoje also highlighted the relatively small number of moving parts in electric vehicles, saying this could reduce maintenance requirements compared with conventional vehicles.
Kandoje said Tsuyoshi Motors was prepared to work with government institutions to expand the use of electric vehicles in public service fleets.
