During the tiffin break at Victoria High School in Moulvibazar’s Sreemangal, a group of students were doing something that has become quite unusual these days: reading for pleasure. Behind this commendable effort is the upazila administration, which has organised the Sreemangal Book Reading Festival 2026 under the theme of “nurturing minds through reading” in cooperation with Sreemangal Abritti Utsab and Uttaran. Keya has decided that from now on, she wants to read books regularly from the school library. Sreemangal UNO Ziaur Rahman said he was delighted to see that students were already buying, exchanging, and discussing different books. He noted, however, that the real test would be whether books remain in students’ hands once the competition ends.
