The facilities have been fully automated for years and have used operating control systems from global technology provider Siemens – but original parts for measure ore slurry density had been discontinued or had become too inaccurate for further use. A total of three detectors with NaI scintillators of type MINITRAC 31 from VEGA were selected to measure the density of the ore sludge directly from the mine and in the thickeners of the PAL facility.
