When there was no road connection to the Maramuni local level government in the Wabag District, only third-level aviation companies flew into the area, forcing small businesses to sell a packet of rice for as high as K30.00. The previous way of life has dramatically changed for the better when the Wabag District Development Authority started building the Enga-Sepik road project as a pilot tract. Due to the road network in place, the price of basic store goods has dramatically decreased. The Maramuni LLG is made up of a total of 16 council wards with the Wabag – Maramuni section of the Enga – Sepik Highway already connecting 5 wards. It is projected that the Enga -Sepik road project will open up massive business opportunities for the Upper Highlands Provinces to trade with the greater Sepik Region (East and West Sepik).
