The number of building permits issued in Cyprus rose 10.7% in April 2026 compared with the same month a year earlier, reaching 639, the Cyprus Statistical Service (CYSTAT) reported. For the January-April 2026 period, 2,915 building permits were issued, up 35.1% from 2,157 in the same period of 2025. The total value of permits rose 46.1%, while the total area covered increased 45.5%. By area, residential building space expanded 66.9% to 1.23 million square meters for the four-month period, while non-residential space fell 46.4% to 100,562 square meters. By value, residential building permits rose 66.6% to €1.43 billion for the January-April period, while non-residential permits fell 36.6% to €144.0 million.
