Tirupati: Pregnant women and new mothers in Tirupati district will now have access to 16 dedicated vehicles for free transportation to government hospitals and for returning home after delivery. However, as Tirupati has major government healthcare facilities, including a government maternity hospital, pregnant women and new mothers from neighbouring districts may also travel to Tirupati for treatment. MLA Arani Srinivasulu said the State government was taking several measures for the welfare and healthcare of pregnant women and new mothers. The ‘102 Thalli Bidda Express’ service was another step towards ensuring that women receive medical care without delays, he said. Of the 16 vehicles allotted to Tirupati district, 15 will operate in the Tirupati area and one will be available in the Srikalahasti area.
