Amaravati: The YSRCP on Tuesday accused the coalition government of creating an atmosphere of fear and extortion for industrialists, alleging that threats and harassment by ruling party leaders were forcing companies to scale down operations or leave Andhra Pradesh. Addressing the media at party central office, YSRCP spokesperson Veera Sekhar Reddy alleged that ruling party leaders were demanding money from industrialists and obstructing factory operations and supply chains when their demands were not met. He claimed that several other cement companies, including Zuari, L&T, Dalmia, Sagar, Chettinad Sri and Bhavya, had also faced threats and pressure. Sekhar Reddy alleged that Bharathi Cements at Yerraguntla was the latest target. The YSRCP leader also alleged that police were failing to act against those responsible for the alleged harassment, while promptly arresting people who protested against the ruling dispensation.
