(ABC 6 News) — Minnesota’s First Congressional District has been controlled by Republicans for about seven years, and in 2026, it is a race that has been grabbing headlines. There are five candidates in the race heading into the Minnesota primary: three Republicans (Gregory A Goetzman, Oliver R Morlan, and incumbent Brad Finstad) and two Democrats (Jake Johnson and Adam Eaton). However, political science professor David Schultz race said a Democratic win could be a sign of a much bigger shift in Congress. Meanwhile, Republican challengers Oliver Morlan and Gregory Goetzman say they want to see more negotiations before the U.S. sends troops to war. Meanwhile, Eaton said he is fighting for policies to change the economy for the working class with universal health care and working class tax cut.
