The Cayman Islands recorded its strongest first half for stayover tourism on record, driven by increased arrivals from the United States, Canada and Europe, according to newly released tourism figures. June alone attracted 40,460 overnight visitors, extending year over year growth to eight consecutive months with a 6.9 per cent increase. The Cayman Islands welcomed 1,679 Canadian visitors in June, a 44.1 per cent increase from the same month last year. Canadians now account for 9.2 per cent of year to date stayover visitors, compared with 6.9 per cent a year earlier. Cruise tourism also improved, with 55,639 passengers arriving in June, a 15.5 per cent increase.
