Owners of an Elizabeth Township farm are suing their school district and the companies leading a construction project there claiming that excavation for the work has led to flooding on their property, which has ruined their barn. It alleges negligence, continuing private nuisance, trespass and breach of contract and said that mismanaged stormwater on the construction project has led to flooding on the farm which destroyed their barn, damaged equipment and machinery inside, and contaminated their hay and feed. Stormwater management issueThe Everlys’ farm, listed as 63 acres on the Allegheny County property assessment website, is contiguous to the Elizabeth Forward High School campus and sits downhill from the district’s new construction project. Two weeks later, the school board approved hiring Macson to lead the ensuing reconstruction project, the lawsuit said. The lawsuit asserts that the topography of the district property was substantially altered, raised by as much as 60 to 70 feet in the area immediately uphill from the farm.
