SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (WNYT)- Schenectady police said a targeted traffic crackdown led to dozens of tickets, multiple arrests and the seizure of illegal bikes as well as other vehicles. Police said the effort focused on illegal e-bikes, dirt bikes and motorcycles tied to ongoing safety concerns on city streets. The Schenectady Police Department will continue to focus enforcement efforts on unsafe driving behaviors and the operation of illegal bikes. Police said they seized 18 electric dirt bikes, three e-bikes, three gas-powered dirt bikes, five mopeds, one go-kart and one scooter. The department said a helicopter and Schenectady police drone units helped officers identify violations while reducing risk to riders, officers and the public.
