— Authorities have released the name of an Oklahoma man who died Saturday in a single-vehicle crash near Deadwood.
The crash occurred at 4:41 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, on U.S. Highway 85 at mile marker 35, about 5 miles north of Deadwood.
ADVERTISEMENTJames Edward Skillett, 72, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, was driving a 2003 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide northbound in the left lane on U.S. Highway 85, according to preliminary crash information.
Skillett braked as he approached a motorcycle turning left, lost control of the Harley-Davidson and became separated from the motorcycle.
Skillett was transported to Monument Health in Spearfish, where he died from injuries sustained in the crash.
