FARMINGTON — Trinity Slate, a University of Maine at Farmington anthropology and political science major from North Anson, has been awarded the Ina Rosenthal-Urey mentorship award by the American Anthropological Association (AAA). This prestigious award pairs undergraduate anthropology majors with mentors from both academia and professionals in the field. In addition to the AAA award, Slate has also been named the 2026-27 Maine Policy Scholar for UMF­—a program created to engage students from the University of Maine System in the public policy process. “During their time at UMF, Trinity has demonstrated perseverance and taken advantage of opportunities that have come their way which has rewarded them in spades,” said Nicole Kellett, UMF professor of anthropology. “This award provides Trinity access to mentors who work within the field of applied anthropology.
