A quinceañara is the Latina coming-of-age celebration that marks a girl’s 15th birthday—the symbolic passage from childhood into young womanhood. In this play, there are three girls who have already celebrated or will be celebrating this event and, ultimately, one who has not. Fortunately, this is preceded by an equally long scene about party dresses, designed by Raquel Adorno. This world-premiere production is being shared by Barrington Stage, the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, and Hartford Stage. “Dead Girl’s Quinceañera” plays on the St. Germain Stage at the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center in Pittsfield through August 29.
