Soccer season kicked off around the state Monday, and the Johnson Central Golden Eagles started the season strong with a 4-3 win over Jackson City High School. Ty Wilson led the effort for the Golden Eagles, scoring all four goals. The Golden Eagles move to 1-0 on the season, while Jackson City falls to 0-1. Johnson Central will be back in action Thursday, Aug. 13, at 6:30 p.m. when the Golden Eagles host Ashland Blazer. In girls soccer action, Johnson Central beat Fleming County 9-1, while Letcher Central slipped past Prestonsburg 1-0.
