The General Administration Department (GAD), through an order superseding its December 3, 2025 notification, issued revised guidelines for sanctioning relief under the Security Related Expenditure (SRE) scheme. Under the new framework, the next of kin of a civilian killed in circumstances covered under the order will receive Rs 1 lakh. For police personnel, including Special Police Officers (SPOs), ex-gratia relief for death has been fixed at Rs 5 lakh. Relief may be sanctioned following a personal inquiry by the District Magistrate and submission of indemnity and surety bonds. The ceiling includes Rs 7 lakh for immovable property and Rs 3 lakh for movable property.
