As per the reply, J&K recorded 17,192.409 kg of drug seizures in 2022, which declined to 11,358.528 kg in 2023 and further to 4,977.21 kg in 2024. The data further shows that 1,837 NDPS cases were registered in J&K in 2022, with 99 convictions and a conviction rate of 41.3 per cent. In 2023, 2,232 cases were registered, with 195 convictions and a conviction rate of 53 per cent. In 2024, the number of cases declined to 1,550, while convictions increased to 227, with the conviction rate standing at 51.2 per cent. The Centre said the latest NCRB data pertains to 2024 and covers State/UT-wise drug seizures, cases registered, convictions and conviction rates under the NDPS Act for the period 2022-24.
