This is where a disturbing graphic of Lennon’s X-rayed head comes into play when he released his second-ever solo single, along with The Plastic Ono Band, on October 20th, 1969. Nutter superimposed the famous emblem of his round glasses on top of the digitised head, and ‘Cold Turkey’ was born. In some releases, an alternative sleeve with X-ray photographs of Lennon and Ono side by side was issued. Still, it is Lennon’s head, and only Lennon’s head, on the cover.
