The fire broke out in Frating, with around 30 tonnes of hay catching alight around 3.13pm. A spokesperson for Weeley Fire Station said: "Weeley were called to multiple bales of hay totalling approximately 30 ton alight this afternoon in Frating at 15:13. "The job required 5 fire engines however, this has since been scaled back to 2, with Weeley and one of Clactons fire engines remaining in attendance. "You may still see smoke in the area and we encourage you to close your windows and doors."
