Digital IDs – Move Toward Global SystemGovernments around the world are rapidly expanding digital identification systems, but a major obstacle remains: most digital IDs still cannot function across national borders. Advocates argue that standardized cross-border frameworks would improve security, protect personal information and make international digital transactions more efficient. Digital identification alone is not the Mark of the Beast, and the development of internationally compatible digital IDs does not mean Revelation 13 has been fulfilled. For generations, the idea that a person’s ability to participate in commerce could be connected to an identifiable global system may have seemed impossible. As national digital systems become increasingly interconnected, developments such as global digital identity provide another example of the infrastructure and international cooperation capable of supporting a more integrated world.
